Growing up in Window Rock, I saw both the beauty and the adversity that can exist in Rural Arizona. I was fortunate to grow up with a strong, supportive family, but we didn’t have much and it wasn’t just us. The people and the families around us struggled to overcome
many of the same obstacles.
The plights of my people and many people who are cut off from metropolitan
areas were engrained in me. I committed to fight to bring equality of
opportunity and rights to basic human needs back to my community.
Serving as a representative of tribes and as a member of the Arizona State
Legislature has taught me the value of having a voice in the process of
public policy. I feel that the people of Arizona’s 2nd District need a
strong voice that is representative of their needs and concerns. I know
that I have the ability, the know-how, and the drive to be that voice.
